Who we are

Amliv Oy

VAT: FI32503518
Contact: support@debt-free.world

Amliv Oy operates Debt-Free.World. We are the data controller for all personal data processed in connection with this service.

What data we collect and why

We collect only what is necessary to provide the service you have requested. Both the free and the paid onboarding form save into the same record, so the list below covers both. Which questions you are actually asked depends on which product you are using, and every answer is optional.

Your account

  • Email address — to deliver your plan and your sign-in link
  • First name, country, language and currency — to address and localise your plan
  • Which product you have, when your account was created, when it expires, and whether you have completed onboarding
  • For paid and Community Access members: the Stripe session identifier for the purchase, and whether, and when, you accepted the terms at checkout. We never see or store your card details.

What you tell us about your money

  • Monthly income, housing costs, other monthly costs, any extra income and the amount of it, and your savings buffer
  • Your total debt, how many debts you have, and what types of debt they are
  • A list of your individual debts — up to 20 — and for each one: the type, the creditor’s name, the amount, the currency, the interest rate, the monthly payment, whether a collection agency or a court is involved, and whether the debt is secured
  • Whether you are in collections or enforcement

These are stored as the exact figures you enter, not as ranges. Ranges are used only in the anonymous statistical record described further below.

What you tell us about your situation

  • Your household type, how many children you have, your employment situation, and whether you have people around you who can help
  • Your main goal, what you want to focus on first, the biggest thing standing in your way, and how confident you feel on a scale of 0 to 10
  • If you use the letter tool: the creditor you are writing to, what you want from them, the action you are proposing, what you are most worried about, the tone you want, and any extra amount you can offer each month
  • Your companion mode and whether you want reminders

What we generate for you

  • Your personalised plan, generated by AI from the answers above
  • Any letters and documents you create, and your progress through the plan

Three questions are open text, and you can write anything in them. They are the question about your current situation (up to 500 characters), the one that invites you to describe things in your own words (400 characters), and the one at the end asking whether there is anything else we should know (500 characters). Because they are free text, you may end up writing things we never asked for — health information, or information about other people in your life. Please share only what you are comfortable sharing. What you write is sent to our AI provider to generate your plan, is stored with the rest of your answers, is deleted with them on day 90, and never enters the anonymous statistical record — free text is excluded from it by design, not by policy.

Where this is stored and why: Your answers and your plan are stored in Cloudflare Workers KV (a key-value database), reachable only through your secure access token. The purpose is to power your Member Area, show your plan on later visits, and let the tools work on your real numbers instead of asking you again. Your email address is also stored in our email system (Brevo) to deliver your plan and your sign-in links. Financial answers are transmitted to our AI provider (Anthropic) to generate your plan.

Note: like all internet services, our infrastructure providers (Cloudflare) may retain technical request logs for short periods for security and operational purposes. These logs do not contain your financial form data.

Providing this information is voluntary. You may access your Member Area without completing the onboarding form, but your personalised plan will not be generated. You can leave any individual question blank.

Membership periods and data retention

We don’t keep your information forever — and we don’t think we should. Data retention periods are different for each plan, and depend on whether you are a free or paid member.

  • 90-Day Plan (free plan) — your account and your My 90-Day Plan are kept for 90 days from the day you created your account. This clock is fixed. Signing in again does not extend it, and there is no way to extend it. On day 90 your account, your answers and your plan are automatically and permanently deleted, and we do not restore them afterwards for any reason. If you want to keep your plan, save or print it while your account is open.
  • The 90-Day Companion (90 days, paid) — your account is active for 90 days from purchase. On day 83 we email you your kit. On day 89 we send a short reminder. On day 90 the season closes and everything personal is permanently deleted. There is no archive period, and after day 90 we do not restore your account, your plan or your documents for any reason — your kit is the copy you keep.
  • Income Builder, Wealth Architect, Business Engine — the same model of a defined active period followed by deletion will apply once these products launch. Specific periods will be published here before each product goes live.

What happens on day 90: On day 90 we delete your plan, your answers, your documents, and everything personal inside them. What stays is the payment and consent receipt our accounting law requires — no plan, no debts, no amounts. Your kit is yours and works without us.

Your kit, and why deletion costs you nothing. On day 83 — seven days before the season closes — we email you a single HTML file containing your plan, your progress, your debt-free date and your letters. It is self-contained: it opens in any browser without an internet connection, it does not call back to our servers, and it keeps working even if Debt-Free.World ceases to exist. Deletion removes our copy, not yours. Please save it somewhere you will find it again, because it cannot be regenerated after day 90.

The receipt we keep, and what is in it. After the deletion, exactly one record about you remains in the system that runs your membership. It has six fields and nothing else: your email address, the Stripe session identifier for the purchase, whether terms consent was required, whether you accepted it, when you accepted it, and the date the deletion ran. Finnish accounting law requires proof of payment and consent to be retained for seven years, which is how long this record is kept and the only reason it exists.

It contains no plan, no debts, no amounts, no name, no onboarding answers and no documents. No page you can log into reads it, and it is not used to contact you.

Backups, and the thirty days after deletion. Once a night the system that runs your membership writes an encrypted snapshot of itself to offsite storage, so that a failure on our side does not destroy the plans of everyone using the service that day. The snapshot is encrypted before it leaves our servers, with a key the service itself does not hold, and it is deleted automatically thirty days after it is written. This means that for up to thirty days after your data is deleted on day 90, an encrypted copy of it can still exist inside a backup that nobody reads. It is never opened to restore a single account, it cannot be searched, and no one can look you up in it. After those thirty days it is gone from there as well.

This retention schedule applies to your email address, your onboarding answers, your generated plan, and any letters or documents you created with us.

Other data retention periods:

  • Newsletter email address — retained in Brevo until you unsubscribe or request deletion
  • Payment and consent receipt — the six fields described above, retained as required by Finnish accounting law (7 years)
  • Encrypted service backup — a nightly snapshot of the membership system, encrypted with a key the service does not hold and automatically deleted 30 days after it is written

Research and impact measurement

Part of the mission of Debt-Free.World is to demonstrate that accessible financial guidance creates measurable, real-world change. To support this mission, shortly before your account data reaches its scheduled deletion date, we extract a small set of non-identifying statistics from it — for example, your country, the type of debt you had, which tools you used, and whether you reached your goal. We use this anonymised data for:

  • Statistical research and analysis of debt patterns, recovery trajectories, and outcomes
  • Impact measurement and reporting
  • Service improvement and product development
  • Grant applications, funding proposals, and social impact reporting
  • Academic or non-profit collaboration on financial wellbeing research

How we protect you in research use: This anonymised data is completely separated from your name, email address, and any free-text answers, and stored independently of your personal account record. It is not pseudonymised — meaning we keep no key, table, or reference anywhere that could link it back to you. It cannot reasonably be used to identify you as an individual. This process never delays or prevents the deletion of your personal data on its scheduled date. We will not share identifiable personal data with researchers, partners, or funders — ever.

What the anonymous record actually contains. It is a single row of fourteen fields and it has the same shape for everyone: the version of the record format; the month your season started, as a month only and never a day; your country as a two-letter code; your language; whether you joined as a paying member or through Community Access; which companion mode you used; your household type; how many children you have, recorded as 0, 1, 2 or 3+; your employment situation; a start snapshot and an end snapshot, each holding only ranges (total debt, number of debts, monthly surplus, projected months to debt-free, and whether enforcement was involved); how much your projected payoff time improved, as a range; four engagement counts, each as a range; and the fact that the season completed.

Household type, number of children and employment situation come from answers you already gave during onboarding. We did not add any new question to collect them. Nothing in the row is an exact figure, an exact date or a free-text answer.

Small groups are never shown. When these rows are counted, any group of fewer than 20 rows is not shown in any form. The number is not rounded, not banded and not published elsewhere — our internal tool returns a suppression marker in place of the count. A breakdown may combine at most two characteristics at a time. Both limits are enforced in our code, not left to policy or to the judgment of whoever runs the query.

What we never collect. We do not ask for and do not store your age, your date of birth, your gender, or any location more precise than your country — neither in your account nor in the anonymous record. Free-text answers you write during onboarding are stored in your account only to generate your plan, are deleted with it, and never enter the anonymous record.

AI processing and Anthropic

Your personalised plan is generated by Claude, an AI model developed by Anthropic. When you submit financial information, it is sent to Anthropic’s API to generate your plan.

Anthropic processes this data as a data processor acting on our behalf. Anthropic’s standard API does not use submitted data to train AI models. We recommend reviewing Anthropic’s Privacy Policy for their current data handling practices.

Your financial data is transmitted to Anthropic only for the purpose of generating your plan. It is not shared with Anthropic for any other purpose.

Legal basis for processing

We process your personal data on the following legal bases under GDPR:

  • Contract performance (Art. 6(1)(b)) — processing necessary to deliver the service you have purchased or requested
  • Legitimate interests (Art. 6(1)(f)) — sending relevant updates, measuring service impact, and improving the service, where these interests are not overridden by your rights
  • Legal obligation (Art. 6(1)(c)) — retaining payment records as required by Finnish accounting law
  • Consent (Art. 6(1)(a)) — where you have explicitly agreed, including for analytics cookies (GA4 and Microsoft Clarity) and marketing communications; you may withdraw consent at any time

Who we share your data with

We use the following service providers to operate Debt-Free.World. Each processes data only as necessary to provide their service:

  • Anthropic (Claude API) — AI processing to generate your personalised plan.
  • Brevo (Sendinblue) — email delivery and contact list management.
  • Cloudflare — infrastructure, DNS, security and Workers KV storage for Premium member data.
  • Google (Analytics) — site analytics via Google Analytics 4, loaded only with your consent. IP addresses are anonymised. See Google’s Privacy Policy.
  • Microsoft (Clarity) — anonymised session recordings and heatmaps, loaded only with your consent. No financial data from forms is collected. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.
  • Stripe — payment processing. Stripe is an independent data controller for payment data. See Stripe’s Privacy Policy.

We do not sell your personal data. We do not share identifiable personal data with advertisers or any third party not listed above.

Your rights

Under GDPR, you have the following rights regarding your personal data:

  • Access — request a copy of the personal data we hold about you
  • Rectification — request correction of inaccurate data
  • Erasure — request deletion of your personal data (“right to be forgotten”)
  • Restriction — request that we limit processing of your data in certain circumstances
  • Objection — object to processing based on legitimate interests
  • Portability — receive a copy of your data in a structured, machine-readable format
  • Withdraw consent — where processing is based on consent, withdraw it at any time without affecting the lawfulness of prior processing

To exercise any of these rights, email support@debt-free.world with subject line “Data request” and the email address associated with your account. We will respond within 30 days.

If you believe we have not handled your data correctly, you have the right to lodge a complaint with the Finnish Data Protection Ombudsman (tietosuoja.fi) or the supervisory authority in your country of residence.

Cookies and analytics

We use two analytics tools to understand how visitors use our site:

  • Google Analytics 4 (GA4) — measures page views, session duration, traffic sources and general site usage. We enable IP anonymisation and do not use GA4 for advertising or remarketing.
  • Microsoft Clarity — records anonymised session replays and heatmaps to help us understand how visitors navigate and interact with our pages. Clarity does not collect financial data entered in our forms. See Microsoft’s Privacy Statement.

Both tools are loaded only after you consent via the cookie banner displayed on your first visit. Your consent choice is stored in your browser. We do not use cross-site tracking, advertising cookies, or remarketing pixels of any kind.

If you decline analytics, no tracking scripts are loaded. You may withdraw consent at any time by clearing your browser storage and declining again on your next visit.

Data security

We take the following technical and organisational measures to protect your data:

  • All data in transit is encrypted via HTTPS/TLS
  • Member access tokens are generated with 256 bits of cryptographic randomness and validated server-side on every request
  • We never store your access token itself — only a SHA-256 hash of it. A copy of our database could not be used to sign in as you
  • Requesting a new sign-in link immediately invalidates the previous one
  • Your financial answers are never placed in a page address — they are sent in the encrypted body of the request
  • Access to production infrastructure is restricted
  • Member data is automatically deleted at the end of the retention period described above
  • All API endpoints are rate-limited and restricted to authorised origins

International data transfers

Some of our service providers (Anthropic, Cloudflare, Stripe) operate infrastructure outside the European Economic Area. Where personal data is transferred outside the EEA, we rely on Standard Contractual Clauses or the provider’s adequacy mechanisms as required by GDPR Chapter V.

Children

Debt-Free.World is not directed at persons under 18 years of age. We do not knowingly collect personal data from minors. If you believe a minor has submitted personal data through our service, please contact us at support@debt-free.world and we will delete it promptly.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when our data practices change. Material changes will be noted at the top of this page with an updated date. For existing users, material changes will be communicated by email where we hold your email address.

Refund Policy

Debt-Free.World · Amliv Oy · Last updated: 2 June 2026

We want every customer to feel confident purchasing from Debt-Free.World. This policy explains your rights and how we handle refund requests.

01

Legal position — EU Art. 16(m)

Under EU Directive 2011/83/EU Article 16(m), consumers do not have a right of withdrawal for digital content that is not supplied on a tangible medium, where performance has begun with the consumer’s prior express consent and acknowledgement that they thereby lose their right of withdrawal.

At the point of purchase, you expressly consented to the immediate delivery of your personalised digital content and acknowledged the loss of your right of withdrawal. This consent was recorded at checkout.

Therefore, Debt-Free.World is not legally obligated to provide refunds for completed purchases.

02

Our goodwill commitment

Despite the legal position above, we are committed to treating every customer fairly. We understand that financial stress is real, and we believe in the value of what we deliver. If you are genuinely unsatisfied, we will always listen and find a fair solution — because your trust matters more than any single transaction.

We do this together ✦

03

When we will issue a refund

We will issue a full refund without question in any of the following situations:

  • You were charged but did not receive your access link or plan within 24 hours
  • You were charged twice for the same purchase
  • A technical error prevented you from accessing your Premium Member Area
  • The content delivered was materially different from what was described
04

Case-by-case review

We review all other refund requests individually and with genuine care. While we cannot guarantee refunds outside the situations above, we commit to:

  • Responding to every refund request within 5 business days
  • Treating every case with fairness and human judgment
  • Offering alternative solutions where a full refund is not appropriate — for example, personalised support, or a fresh 90-day season at no charge. A fresh season is not something you can start yourself; if we agree on it, we arrange it for you by hand and confirm by email once it is open.
05

How to request a refund

  1. 1
Email us at support@debt-free.worldInclude your email address used at purchase and a brief description of the issue. Subject line: “Refund request”
  2. 2
We respond within 5 business daysWe will review your case and respond with our decision or a request for more information.
  3. 3
Refund processed within 5–10 business daysApproved refunds are returned to your original payment method via Stripe. Timing depends on your bank.
06

Community Access

If you cannot afford The 90-Day Companion, you can take it at no cost through Community Access. There is no application to write and no case to make: you select it yourself, go through the same checkout as everyone else, and the total is 0€.

You get the same 90 days of The 90-Day Companion as a paying member — the same tools, the same plan, the same kit before the season closes. Nothing is held back, and nothing is asked of you in return. Feedback is welcome, but it is never a condition.

Because nothing is paid, there is nothing to refund, and there is no right of withdrawal to waive — so you are not asked to accept the withdrawal waiver described in section 01.

If you cannot find the option, email support@debt-free.world and we will send you the link.
